Port Clinton Square

The City of Highland Park is thrilled to announce an eclectic line-up of coordinated entertainment and cuisine as part of the 2026 Downtown Concerts at Port Clinton series. Select Fridays, July 10 through September 25 at Port Clinton Square in Downtown Highland Park, the public is invited to take a trip around the world - without ever leaving Highland Park. Attendees will partake in global cuisine from a different onsite local Highland Park restaurant each week while enjoying accompanying world music and entertainment. No passport necessary.
Over the course of ten Friday evenings, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to Port Clinton Square and start their summer weekends with free live music for the entire family. Concerts will generally run from 6 PM - 8 PM. Please note there will be no concerts July 24 or August 28, and the July 10 concert will take place from 5 PM - 7 PM. The season finale on September 25 will be held from 4 PM – 8 PM and feature the return of the ever-popular Scarecrow Trail through Downtown Highland Park. Over one dozen Downtown businesses will decorate seasonal scarecrows in front of their shops, creating a fun and festive Scarecrow Trail. Attendees will be able to vote “best in show, with the winner being announced during Stews &amp; Brews on October 10.
Bringing in a bit of France, attendees will enjoy flavors from That Little French Guy, wines from Lynfred Winery, and music by Lush Life providing the jazz to complete the evening.

Port Clinton Concert Series: Bollywood Beats + Eats 

A community favorite returns to Downtown Highland Park! The City of Highland Park’s 5th annual Vintage Car Show is slated for Saturday, August 22, from 12 PM - 4 PM. Up to 150 classic &amp; custom vehicles, vintage motorcycles, and an electric vehicle showcase will be displayed at the North St. Johns parking lot (525 Central Ave.), between Central Avenue and Elm Place, and along St. Johns Avenue, between Central and Park Avenues in downtown Highland Park.
This free, all-ages event promises an exciting afternoon spent perusing a variety of vintage cars while enjoying music from DJ Big Cat, radio personalities from MeTV 87.7, kid-friendly activities, giveaways, plus bites and beverages from Highland Park favorites!
Attendees can expect to see a diverse lineup of cars dating from the early 1900s to 1984, ranging from vintage models to unique classics, local Highland Park commercial vehicles, muscle cars, hot rods, and more.
In the spirit of this being an all-ages event, The Art Center Highland Park will be offering a free craft making opportunity at their booth onsite. Kids can decorate their very own wooden car craft to take home as a souvenir.
New for 2026: Enjoy even more vintage, classic, and antique vehicles with an expanded event footprint! Plus, get a glimpse into the future of automobiles with a brand new EV showcase featuring a number of electric and hybrid vehicles.
Onsite food and drink vendors include BWB Shakes, Harmony Coffee Bar, Las Torres Mexican Restaurant, Michael’s Grill &amp; Salad Bar, and Steep Ravine Brewing Company. Libations will be available for those 21 and older.

Course times: Tuesday evenings, 6-8 p.m.
Course dates: September 8, September 15, September 22, October 6, October 13
Two College-wide lectures are associated with this series: <a href="https://advancement.lakeforest.edu/register/WorldNeedsLeaders" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">“The World Needs Leaders” with former U.S. Ambassador Jeff Flake</a> on September 23 and <a href="https://advancement.lakeforest.edu/register/?id=8935bb79-f62f-4326-bd92-0c1a4c32f0c4" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">“MLK and the Voting Rights Act” with Pulitzer Prize winning author Jonathan Eig</a> on September 28. All course participants are invited to attend as part of this series.
Held at the newly renovated Glen Rowan House, this series explores both the constraints on democracy—such as recent democratic backsliding, the Constitution’s roadblocks on majority rule, and the weakening of voting rights to name a few—and strategies to overcome them and enhance democracy in America. Each week will highlight a new topic and the opening and closing sessions will begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments prior to class.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.
