Highland Park Announces New Date For Delayed Fireworks Show

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park has set a new date for its fireworks display after weather stopped the city’s Fourth of July show this year.

The City of Highland Park announced the fireworks have been rescheduled for Aug. 4 and will take place after this year's National Night Out celebration.

The free fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. Residents can watch from Hidden Creek AquaPark at 1220 Fredrickson Pl., where National Night Out festivities also will be held earlier in the evening.

Additional viewing space will be available at Sunset Valley Golf Club, 1390 Sunset Rd. The city said the fireworks can be viewed directly from Hidden Creek AquaPark, with the golf club serving as another viewing area.

Before the fireworks, families can attend National Night Out and meet members of the Highland Park Police Department. The event will include activities, games and family-friendly attractions at Hidden Creek AquaPark.

Activities will include free swimming, a bounce house, a live DJ, snacks, a petting zoo, a touch-a-truck exhibit and community partner booths. The Bulgarian American Police Association and Relish Catering Kitchen are teaming up to provide free pizza for attendees.
