Highwood's Nashwood Music and Food Fest Returns Labor Day Weekend

HIGHWOOD, IL — Highwood will again turn its downtown into a Nashville-style music hub over Labor Day weekend as Celebrate Highwood hosts the ninth annual Nashwood Music and Food Fest from Sept. 4 through Sept. 6.

Musicians from around the country will come to Highwood as downtown is transformed into "Nashville’s Honky Tonk Row." The three-day event will feature free live country, bluegrass, blues, classic, contemporary and Southern rock music, along with Southern-inspired food and drink specials.

Celebrate Highwood encouraged attendees of all ages to wear cowboy boots and hats for the festival. Performances are planned both indoors and outdoors at venues across Downtown Highwood, allowing visitors to move from place to place throughout the weekend. There are no cover charges for performances, though tips are welcome for musicians.

Nashwood is scheduled to run Friday from 5 p.m. to bar close, Saturday from 2 p.m. to bar close and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Information about the full weekend schedule, including the band lineup, venue list and map, is available on the Celebrate Highwood website.

Celebrate Highwood is encouraging festivalgoers to use Uber, Lyft, public transportation, or to walk or ride bikes along the enhanced Green Bay Trail - Robert McLory Bike Trail, which the announcement says leads straight into the heart of Highwood. Attendees can also ride Metra to the Highwood station or take a Pace bus.

Free parking will be available, but spots are limited.
