Lockport OKs Move For Liquor Store

The liquor store on State Street will move to Ninth Street.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport City Council approved a special use permit for a liquor store at 1059 E. Ninth St., at its Wednesday Council meeting.

According to Council documents, the store, Lockport Liquors, will sell alcoholic products, including beer, wine and spirits, as well as soda, candy, chips and tobacco products.

Mayor Steve Streit said this is "a lateral move" for the store.

"It's coming off State Street...and moving up here [to Ninth Street]," Streit said. "It's not a new liquor license."

The business will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Council documents state the business will also have an alarm system and 24-hour security camera.
