Lockport Police Issue 39 Seat Belt Citations During Memorial Day Enforcement

The campaign was aimed at increasing seat belt use and keeping roads safe during the busy travel period.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Police Department shared it made 1 DUI arrest and issued 63 various citations as part of its Memorial Day 2026 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement.

The department said the campaign was aimed at increasing seat belt use and keeping roads safe during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

During the campaign, Lockport Police:

  • issued 39 seat belt citations
  • made 1 DUI arrest
  • issued five distracted driving citations
  • issued one suspended/revoked license violation
  • issued four uninsured motorist citations
  • issued three speeding citations
  • issued 11 other moving/equipment citations

"The campaign’s success reflects law enforcement's commitment to roadway safety and reinforces the message that buckling up saves lives," police said in a news release.

The “Click It or Ticket” initiative is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
