Home Invasion Suspect 'Contained' In Homer Glen Residence: Police

Police say a suspect fled a Darien home invasion and led officers to Homer Glen.

HOMER GLEN, IL —Darien police on Tuesday afternoon confirmed that a home invasion suspect was tracked to Homer Glen after a home invasion that left the victim injured.

According to Darien Police Chief Greg Thomas, officers responded to a report of a home invasion in the 1400 block of Sequoia Drive just after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arriving, officers saw the suspect fleeing in a vehicle, Thomas said.

Meanwhile, the victim had sustained injuries and was treated by first responders before being taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers began a pursuit of the suspect's vehicle that ended in the area of Bell Road and 143rd Street in Homer Glen, according to Thomas.

Assisting police agencies found the suspect at a home where they are currently "contained," Thomas said, adding, "Officers are actively working to take the suspect into custody."

Will County Sheriff's police said a shelter-in-place was in effect in the 13200 block of Maverick Trail as multiple agencies assisted with a barricaded suspect.

"Maverick Trail is blocked off at Woodland and Parker, please do not enter," the sheriff's office said. "Residents living on Maverick Trail need to shelter in place."

Earlier in the afternoon, Homer Glen Mayor Christina Neitzke-Troike said the village was made aware of police activity near Maverick Trail on Tuesday afternoon.

Neitzke-Troike said in a social media post that she had been notified "that a possible home invasion had taken place in Darien," which led state police to Homer Glen.

According to a state police spokesperson, the investigation involves the Illinois Secretary of State Police and Darien police.

Darien police told Patch officers are investigating a home invasion on Sequoia Lane, which is about 17 miles from Maverick Trail in Homer Glen and about 2 miles from 143rd Street and Bell Road.
