State Rep. La Ha Launches Summer Reading Program

The program is open to students entering Kindergarten through sixth grade.

HOMER GLEN, IL — State Representative Nicole La Ha is inviting students across the district to take part in her 2026 Summer Reading Program, which encourages young readers to stay engaged and active through reading during summer break, a news release from her office shared.

“When young people discover a love for reading, they open the door to new ideas, new adventures, and lifelong learning,” Rep. La Ha said in a release. “Summer reading helps students stay sharp, build confidence, and use their imagination in ways that can shape their future. I’m excited to once again offer this program to families across the district.”

The program is open to students entering Kindergarten through sixth grade. Participants are challenged to read 10 books over the summer, according to a news release. Books longer than 150 pages may count as two books, and books read through local library programs are also eligible.
