Flossmoor School District 161 Kindergarten Registration Opens March 3

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Flossmoor School District 161 will host kindergarten registration for the 2026–2027 school year from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at each of the district’s elementary schools.

Registration will take place at Flossmoor Hills Elementary School, 3721 Beech St.; Heather Hill Elementary School, 1439 Lawrence Crescent; Serena Hills Elementary School, 255 Pleasant Dr.; and Western Avenue Elementary School, 940 Western Ave.

“Kindergarten is an exciting milestone for both students and families,” said Superintendent Dr. Dana Smith. “Our registration event is an opportunity to welcome families, answer questions, and begin building strong partnerships that support each child’s growth from day one.”

Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten enrollment. Families who are uncertain which school their child will attend may contact the District 161 office at 708-647-7000 for guidance.

Families who are unable to attend the March 3 registration event may schedule an individual appointment directly with their child’s school to complete the registration process.

Parents and guardians should bring the following items to registration:

• An original birth certificate with a raised seal
• Proof of residency within Flossmoor School District 161
• Guardianship or custody documentation, if applicable
