HOMEWOOD, IL — Registration is open now for the Homewood Youth Civics Academy, an opportunity designed to give students an insider's look at the inner workings of Homewood.

The Homewood Youth Civics Academy is described as a fun, hands-on interactive experience for Homewood students entering 5th–8th grade during the 2026–2027 school year.

Students will go behind the scenes with the police department, fire department, public works, finance, community & economic development and learn through interactive activities, equipment demonstrations and real-world challenges.

"This isn't a classroom lecture," the Village said. "It's an immersive workshop designed to show how local government works while having fun and being outside!"

Each session is led directly by Village staff. Students will have real, one-on-one opportunities to ask questions, share ideas and get to know the team serving Homewood.
