Structure Fire Contained At Homewood Condominums, Minor Injuries Reported

The fire happened in a six-story building at 184th and Cherry Creek Drive.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A structure fire at a six-story condominium building located at 18400 Cherry Creek Drive was contained Tuesday afternoon following a coordinated response from multiple fire departments in MABAS Division 24.

The fire was limited to one condo on the fifth floor. All residents were safely evacuated from the building and accounted for.

Four individuals were treated for minor smoke inhalation injuries and transported to a local hospital. No fatalities were reported.

Fire officials anticipate that residents will be allowed to return to their units later Tuesday evening, except for those living on the fifth floor, where damage assessment and cleanup efforts will continue.

The incident prompted a second alarm response, along with an EMS alarm, bringing additional fire and emergency medical personnel to the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
