Anthony's Pub Price Drop: Terrific Time To Own One Of Joliet's Most Popular Bar-Restaurants?

JOLIET, IL — Three months have passed since the building that housed Anthony's Pub and Restaurant landed on the Joliet commercial real estate market, shortly after its owners closed the place down for good. However, at no point in June, July or August did anyone come forward to purchase the property at the initial asking price of $4.2 million.

Realizing the property near the Louis Joliet Mall would not sell for $4.2 million, the owners of Anthony's have worked with their real estate broker to lower their asking price. Joliet Patch discovered the current listing for the building is now at $3.9 million.

Fran Hondros of Coldwell Banker Commercial is listed as the real estate agent.

According to her listing on LoopNet, the Anthony's property consists of 8,000 square feet of retail building. It was built in 1995 and underwent major renovation in 2014. The property is 1.54 acres and includes 100 parking spaces.

On May 9, Joliet Patch broke the news revealing that one week after a former Joliet street gang member in his early 30s was fatally shot in the overflow parking lot after patronizing Anthony's Pub and Restaurant, Anthony's was going out of business near the Louis Joliet Mall.

"After 12 unforgettable years, tonight will be our final night serving the Joliet community. Anthony’s was built by the people who walked through our doors, and we will always be grateful for the incredible community that supported us over the years. Thank you for being part of our story," the announcement shared on Facebook read.

Back on May 4, Joliet Patch published a story revealing that Anthony's Restaurant and Pub issued a statement on social media in response to that weekend's early morning killing of 31-year-old Aaron Vidales, who was gunned down in a parking lot not far from 3151 Voyager Lane.

"This has been deeply upsetting for our team and our community," Anthony's said on Facebook. "Our thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and checked in."

Back in 2016, Vidales was charged with the aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a gang member, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm without an owner’s identification card, Joliet Patch reported at the time.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 1:51 a.m. on May 3, an officer in the area of Anthony’s Restaurant and Pub at 3151 Voyager Lane heard multiple gunshots coming from the nearby Dollar Tree parking lot at 2900 Colorado Avenue.

Officers immediately responded and found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
