Joliet Catholic Academy Announces Its 3 September Students Of The Month

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the September Students of the Month: Benjamin Alessio (Kiwanis Club), Matthew Schreiner (Lions Club), and Caroline Leeders (Rotary Club). JCA is proud to recognize these students for their academic achievements, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and service to their school and community.

Benjamin Alessio, son of Carrie and Joseph Alessio of Shorewood, is a graduate of Minooka Junior High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, where he serves as president. Benjamin has received an academic medal in physics and has held several executive positions on Student Council. He is also a member of Key Club, a Hillzone Leader and Student Ambassador. Benjamin is a captain of the varsity volleyball team and serves as a team manager for the girls volleyball team. Outside of school, he plays for Sports Performance Volleyball Club and works part-time at Dunkin’. Benjamin plans to study business in college and continue playing volleyball. In the future, he plans to work with his brothers at his father’s construction company.

Matthew Schreiner, son of Dawn and Matthew Schreiner of Joliet, is a graduate of Holy Family Grade School. A member of the National French Honor Society, Matthew has earned certificates in the National French Contest throughout his high school career. He has also received academic medals in theology and history, and academic certificates in art and music. Matthew is very involved in Campus Ministry and is also a member of the Medical Science Club. He is active with Holy Family Parish and School and the Field Museum. He enjoys reading, writing and producing online videos focused on technology and theology. Matthew plans to attend St. John Vianney College Seminary at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota and major in philosophy.

Caroline Leeders, daughter of Jeanne and Sean Leeders of Joliet, is a graduate of St. Raymond Grade School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is a Heritage Award recipient and has received an academic medal in Spanish and academic certificates in health and psychology. Caroline has held several executive positions on Student Council and is involved in Key Club as the current communications chair, Victory View Newspaper Club, Garden Club, and Campus Ministry. She is also a Student Ambassador. A captain of the varsity tennis team, Caroline received the East Suburban Catholic All-Conference Tennis Award. Outside of school, she volunteers with the Miracle League of Joliet and works part-time at Dari Delite. She plans to attend a Midwest university and major in human development and family studies. Caroline hopes to pursue a career working with children as a counselor, social worker or teacher.
