Joliet Central and West High School Students Honored with College Board National Recognition Awards

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Township High School Board of Education proudly recognized a group of outstanding students from Joliet Central and Joliet West High Schools during their September Board of Education meeting. These students earned prestigious College Board National Recognition Awards for their academic excellence and commitment to their education.

Students from Joliet Central and Joliet West were recognized in two categories: College Board National School Recognition Award and College Board National First-Generation Recognition Award.

The College Board National School Recognition Award celebrates students who demonstrated academic excellence within their school community. To qualify, 10th- and 11th-grade students must earn a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher and either score among the top 10% of their high school's test takers on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 or earn a 3 or higher on two or more distinct AP exams by the end of 10th grade.

The College Board National First-Generation Recognition Award honors students who are on track to be the first in their family to complete college. Students must meet the same GPA requirement and either score among the top 10% of first-generation test takers in Illinois on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 or earn a 3 or higher on two or more distinct AP exams by the end of 10th grade.
