Victor Lamont Jones

Victor Lamont Jones was born on September 12, 1961, to Perry and Erma Lee (Lane) Jones Jr. in Joliet, IL. On September 9, 2026, Victor won his courageous battle with cancer and transitioned peacefully to Lightways Hospice Care, with his family by his side.

Victor received his formal education at McKinley Park Elementary School, Dirksen Junior High School, and Joliet Township Central High School.

Victor spent much of his life working as a laborer in the construction field, where he took pride in working with his hands and providing for the people he loved. Outside of work, Victor had a passion for fixing cars. What began as a hobby became one of the many ways he enjoyed spending his time, putting his skills and patience to work to bring something broken back to life.

Victor will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He had a way of bringing joy into a room and creating memories that will forever carry his legacy in the hearts of those who knew him. Above all, Victor loved his family deeply. His family was at the heart of his life, and the love he gave them will continue to live on through each generation.

Victor was a loving father to his two daughters, Alaina Jones and Torriaza Henley, and a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren. He was also a cherished brother whose presence brought love, laughter, and memories to his family. The bonds he shared with his loved ones were an important part of who he was.

Though his passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, the sound of his laughter, the joy he brought to others, the stories shared, and the love he gave so freely will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.

Victor was preceded in death by his father, Perry Jones Jr.; his mother and stepfather, Erma Lee (Arthur) Edwards; maternal grandparents, Lula Bee (Q.T.) McLemore; paternal grandparents, Perry (Ruby) Jones Sr.; great-grandfather, Lester Lane; and niece, Tiffany Harris.

Victor leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Alaina Jones and Torriaza (Dalon) Henley, both of Illinois; five grandchildren, Chance Henley, Kehlani Henley, Jayde Henley, Iyanna Williams, and Jullian Jones; stepmother, Mary Jones; brothers, Perry (Elaine) Jones III of Illinois and Stacey (Emily) Jones of North Carolina; sisters, Cynthia Denise Jones of Arizona, Kowanda Jallow of Wisconsin, and Caronica Lynn Brown of Texas; aunts, Rebecca Waddell and Mary Jones; and a special cousin, Jack Crosby Jr. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends to cherish his memory.

Though he may no longer be here in person, his spirit will continue to live on through the people he loved and the many lives he touched.

Visitation for Victor Lamont Jones will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be held at a later date.
