Racial Slur By Joliet West Football Coach? Allegation Deemed False, District 204 Announces

JOLIET, IL — District 204 spokeswoman Kristine Schlismann issued a press release Wednesday evening revealing that Joliet Township High School was made aware of a complaint alleging that a football coach at Joliet West High School directed a racial slur toward a student.

Upon receiving the complaint, she said that the Joliet West High School administration immediately conducted a thorough investigation, which included interviews with team members and coaching staff. The investigation at this time found no evidence to corroborate the allegation.

"Anyone who has additional information is encouraged to share it with Joliet West administration. Out of respect for the privacy of the students and staff involved, JTHS cannot share further details," Schlismann revealed. "Joliet Township High School takes every complaint seriously. Racism has no home in any of our schools, and JTHS remains committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for every student."
