Ta Canijo Family Reveals Tacos R Us On Route 6 Has Served Its Last Taco

JOLIET, IL — Some news from the Ta Canijo family. After 10 years, our very first location at 328 McDonough St has served its last tacos as a taqueria. September 26 was our final day of service.

But this corner isn't going anywhere. It's becoming a central kitchen for our taquerias. That location is closing to the public. it's not going to be a fast food restaurant anymore. It is still going to be used by us as a commercial kitchen for our other locations where they prepare food and sent it out for our other locations.

We opened right here at McDonough and Rt 6 on a freezing cold December day back in 2016.

So yeah, this one hits different.

It's where a lot of you grabbed tacos on your lunch break, after practice, or on a late night with friends. Some of you knew your order before you even pulled up. We don't take that lightly.

Ten years later, we have 11 other locations across the area and expanding, and that same kitchen is going to play a part in all of them. The food you loved from that window is going to reach a lot more people now.

It also means no more waiting outside for your food through those harsh winters. You've been so patient with us, and we really wanted better for you than that.

This is all part of a really big year for us. We're finishing up our rebrand, we've launched the new Ta Canijo app on iOS and Android so you can order ahead and earn rewards on every visit, and multiple new locations are coming soon with our friends at Gas N Wash.

To everyone who came through McDonough St over the last 10 years, thank you. Every order, every review, every time you brought someone new with you. This is where it all started, and Joliet will always be home.
