Big Expansion In La Grange Park Retirement Complex Underway

The community is adding 38 homes after the project's first phase sold out early and won awards.

LA GRANGE, IL – Plymouth Place retirement community in La Grange Park has broken ground on an expansion of its Arboretum Villas development, adding 38 more independent living homes.

The new phase follows strong demand for the first Arboretum Villas development, which Plymouth Place said was completed ahead of schedule and sold out seven months ahead of its projected sales timeline.

Plymouth Place, a nonprofit group, said the new offering is already drawing interest, with two floor plans sold out before construction gets underway.

"The response to the original development exceeded our expectations, and the national recognition the project received reinforces what we believed from the beginning: There is tremendous demand for a different kind of independent living experience," Jay Biere, president and CEO of Plymouth Place, said in a news release.

The 38 residences are planned with interior ground-level parking, a multi-purpose pavilion for gathering and entertainment, indoor access to the broader Plymouth Place campus and access to dining, wellness, cultural and social offerings on the 17-acre arboretum campus, the news release said.
