12th Annual dash4debra Returns To Benefit For EB Support

LAKE FOREST, IL — Lake Forest residents and supporters are set to gather Aug. 23 for the 12th Annual dash4debra, a community run and walk benefiting people and families living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest.

Hosted by Lake Forest resident Megan Gosselin, dash4debra benefits debra of America, which the event information describes as the national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people impacted by EB. Gosselin founded dash4debra in 2014, and she lives with EB and is also the mother of a child with EB.

The event was created to bring the community together while raising funds and awareness for a condition that remains largely unknown to the general public, coordinators said. Over the years, dash4debra has grown into a Lake Forest tradition and a source of support for the EB community.

“dash4debra has always been about bringing people together and showing families affected by EB that they are not alone,” said Gosselin. “The support we have received from the Lake Forest community year after year has been incredible, and we are excited to welcome everyone back for our 12th year.”

Unlike a traditional road race, participants choose their own pace and distance around the Lake Forest Academy track. The event information says people can run, walk or cheer on friends and family from the sidelines.

EB is a group of rare genetic disorders that cause extremely fragile skin that can blister and tear from minor friction or trauma, according to the event information. It can also lead to serious medical complications and requires ongoing specialized care.

Funds raised through dash4debra support debra of America's mission through direct-to-patient programs and services, education, advocacy, partnerships with treatment developers and research funding.
