Join the History Center for a summer music concert series in the gardens. Enjoy&nbsp;live music, food and merriment from 5-7pm on Friday, July 10. Bring your own drinks, snacks and chairs for this&nbsp;free concert.&nbsp;
Preformance by&nbsp;The Hogmires:
The Hogmires, (est. 2015), are a Mid-Western stringband formed in Chicago by Guitarist, Dan Spielman and Mandolinist, Alex Greenberg. The sound is firmly rooted in Bluegrass with branches of Classic Country, Old-Time, Western Swing, and more. With deftly picked instrumentals, powerful singing, and the most natural groove, The Hogmires make a big old sound, whether playing as a duo or with the full stringband- which features a variety of Chicagoland’s finest musicians.
Food from La Plancha Loca:
La Plancha Loca&nbsp;will be serving up delicious fresh tacos! Secure your food ticket in advance or purchase one at the concert. Each food ticket is good for one food plate at La Plancha Loca!

Stop Making Sense&nbsp;presents a restored version of the iconic live performance by Talking Heads.
The film begins with David Byrne alone on stage. He performs “Psycho Killer” with a simple boom box setup. The stage slowly expands as the concert progresses.
Musicians join one by one. Each song adds new layers of sound and energy. The performance grows from minimal staging to a full band experience.
Songs like “Burning Down the House,” “Once in a Lifetime,” and “This Must Be the Place” highlight the band’s creativity. The music blends rock, funk, and art performance. Byrne’s movement adds a unique visual style.
The lighting stays simple but effective. The focus remains on the music and the performers. The camera captures the rhythm and detail of the live show.
The band’s chemistry drives the performance. Every member contributes to the evolving sound. The audience energy builds throughout the concert.

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists’ residency program, located on the former Arts and Crafts country estate of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, offers tours of the historic Ragdale House. Participants will learn about the Shaw family history and the celebrated artist in residence program. Visitors can experience the seven-acre site which includes three historic homes, several artist studios, gardens and vistas of the 50-acres Shaw Prairie. The Ragdale House and the Barn House, originally built in 1897, are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour donations help to support the mission of Ragdale.
ADMISSION: $15/person and online reservations must be made in advance

This special tribute event honors <a href="https://oldheartmovie.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">award winning Old Heart </a>author Peter Ferry who taught English at Lake Forest High School for 28 years. Following the 90 minute film,&nbsp; producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport , codirector Kirk Wahamaki&nbsp; will join one of the film's costars for an audience discussion. Ferry’s students and faculty colleagues will attend this special event.&nbsp;&nbsp;Among his best known students are novelist Dave Eggers and actor Vince Vaughn.

Old Heart focuses on how people cross cultural boundaries to find common ground. In addition to honoring black soldiers who have fought for our country back to the American liberation, the film, is also a tribute to elder independence. Set in Detroit and the Netherlands, Old Heart was filmed in the midwest and the Dutch community of Veldhoven. Twenty-three midwestern actors are featured along with Amsterdam actress Eva Doueiri in her screen debut.&nbsp;

American Music Festivals is proud to return to the beautiful Wayfarer Theaters to present American Music Festivals at the Movies, a program of short films and music videos that creates a unique and immersive cultural experience for the community.
This special event highlights the New Frontiers in Hawaiian Music initiative, bringing together works that explore music, nature, and cultural connection through video. AMF at the Movies also includes an award-winning short film, virtual videos created during the COVID years, films highlighting cultural exchange, and new works inspired by American themes and artistic voices.
