Electric Scooter The Suspected Cause Of Lake Forest House Fire
A house fire appeared to have originated from a charging electric scooter, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department.
LAKE FOREST, IL — An early morning house fire in Lake Forest is believed to have been caused by an electric scooter, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department.
The fire department responded to the fire on Monday morning at 5:08 a.m. to find smoke coming from the back of the home. The homeowner told firefighters that it seemed to be originating from the rear of the structure.
Responders entered the home to confirm the location and extinguish the fire. The Lake Bluff Fire Department also responded to the scene to conduct a secondary search, monitor the air quality and ventilate the residence.

The Lake Forest Fire Investigator arrived on scene to determine the cause. Based on preliminary findings, the fire appears to have originated from an electric scooter while it was charging.
The incident is still under investigation, the fire department said.
