CITGO Lemont Refinery Holds Planned Emergency Response Drill On Tuesday

The drill will involve several local, state and federal response agencies, including the EPA and the Coast Guard.

LEMONT, IL — CITGO Lemont Refinery will conduct a planned emergency response drill on Tuesday, the Village of Romeoville shared on its Facebook page.

The drill will involve several local, state and federal response agencies, including the EPA and the Coast Guard.

"This exercise is federally required and will evaluate emergency response plans, communications, coordination and resource deployment," the Village shared. "The drill is designed to strengthen coordination between participating agencies and ensure responders are prepared to effectively protect the community, environment and facility in the event of a significant emergency."

Residents in the area may notice increased emergency response activity, including emergency vehicles, personnel and equipment.

"This activity is part of the planned drill and does not represent an actual emergency," the Village said.
