Lemont Park District Receives $600K Grant For Miracle Field Renovation
The renovation project will include an expanded regulation-sized astroturf field, ADA accessible dugouts with shade, batting cage and more.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont Park District has been selected as a grant recipient for the 2023 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development award program.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced Wednesday that 118 local park projects throughout the state are receiving nearly $60 million in state grants.
Lemont Park District was awarded a $600,000 grant for Miracle Field renovations, according to a release from the park district.

Miracle Field is located on the Centennial Campus, and the multi-use field was originally developed in 2007. Athletic programming, Lemont Baseball, outdoor fitness classes, day camp activities and more are all held on the field.
The park district said that in addition to the grant, the Rizzo Family and the Danny Rizzo Foundation have made a $25,000 contribution toward this project.

The renovation project will include an expanded regulation-sized astroturf field, ADA accessible dugouts with shade, a new netting system, a batting cage, and improved spectator areas, the park district said.
Construction on the field will begin after the annual Independence Day Extravaganza event on July 3.

Fiscal Responsibility is a value the Lemont Park District holds in the highest regard, and our agency will continue to explore valuable grant opportunities such as this one during all planning,” said Park District Board President Bill McAdam. “We would also like to thank the Rizzo family and the $25,000 contribution made in the name of the Danny Rizzo Foundation to assist with the Miracle Field Refurbishment."
