Joyce T. Orloff, age 93, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Joliet, IL.

Born December 14, 1932, in Waukegan, IL, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Betty (Tratner) Schuman.Joyce shared a deep and enduring partnership with her late husband of 61 years, Ronald J. Orloff, who preceded her in death October 5, 2014.Her sister, Marilyn Jesse, also preceded her in death.

Joyce was an active and devoted member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation since 1955, a lifetime member of the Board of Directors along with an active member of the Sisterhood and Hadassah, and a faithful and regular attendee of Saturday morning services while able.Her accomplishments with the synagogue included serving as head of the Kosher kitchen, and chairperson for many years of the annual dinner, Sunday School picnics, annual rummage sales, and many other activities.

She was also a lifelong member of the P.T. A. and a faithful supporter of Cunningham School.

Joyce will be remembered for her organizational skills and her conscientiousness in directing every activity she undertook, always wanting everything to be perfect.While her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy continues in every act of kindness inspired by her example.Joyce’s life was marked by a quiet strength, and a steadfast devotion to her family and her congregation

She is survived by her loving children, Steven (Candice) Orloff of Joliet, IL, andLeslie (Tom) Ibler of Washington, IL; her adoring grandchildren, Lindsay Orloff and Ashley (Ben) Freeman; and two great-grandchildren, Ari and Zoey Freeman.

The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Martina, for the exceptional and loving care she provided their mother the past three years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Jewish Congregation would be greatly appreciated.

Graveside services for Joyce T. Orloff will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 1311 Clement Street, Joliet, IL 60435.
