Coroner’s Jury Rules Mundelein Police Shooting Death Of Mary Alice Love A Homicide

The ruling comes as Love's family calls for criminal charges against the officer, according to media reports.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake County coroner’s jury has ruled the death of 37-year-old Mary Alice Love, who was fatally shot by a Mundelein police officer in May, a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Love’s family says they hope the ruling leads to criminalcharges against the officer involved in the shooting, who remains on administrative leave, according to Fox 32. Police have said the officer responded to Love’s home for a reported mental health emergency before the shooting.

The case will now be reviewed by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office following the completion of the coroner’s inquest, according to the article.
