The Libertyville-Vernon Hills school board voted to move forward with the dismissal of Briant Kelly after placing him on leave in April.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 is moving forward with the process of firing veteran administrator Briant Kelly, who was placed on leave in April.

The school board voted 7-0 Monday to authorize the proposed “discharge” of Kelly, who has worked for the district in various roles for 26 years, the Daily Herald is reporting. District officials cited alleged misconduct that may warrant dismissal for cause, including possible neglect of duty or breach of contract.

The action comes amid continued criticism over the district’s handling of allegations of sexual grooming and other complaints brought by students, according to the article.
