Father & Son Found Shot In Head On Father's Day: Kankakee Police
The man and his son were found in the front yard of a residence. The man survived. His son, 40, died, police said.
KANKAKEE, IL — A father and son were both found shot in the head in a front yard Sunday afternoon, Kankakee Police said.
Police were called just after 3:30 p.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of East Merchant Street for a report of shots fired.
Officers at the scene found two men with gunshot wounds in the front yard. Paramedics with the Kankakee City Fire Department responded and took the victims to Riverside Medical Center, police said.

A 59-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the head, police said. His injury was determined to be non-life-threatening. The man's son—identified as Randal D. Young, 40, of Kankakee—also suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Kankakee police detectives at the scene recovered multiple pieces of evidence and interviewed witnesses, all of whom were cooperative.

Kankakee police were assisted by the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department. The Kankakee County Coroner's Office is also assisting in the investigation.
An investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
