Will County EMA Storm Damage Survey Offered For Residents, Businesses

WILL COUNTY — A damage assessment survey is now available for Will County residents and business owners who experienced damage from Aug. 11's severe weather.

The Will County Emergency Management Agency survey is available for both residential and business properties. Find it online. If your property was affected by the storm, you are encouraged to take a few minutes to report the damage.

The National Weather Service has determined that three tornadoes hit the south suburbs Tuesday. One EF-1 occurred from Monee to Crete before moving into northwest Indiana; another EF-1 traveled from Orland Park to Flossmoor then into Indiana, and a third EF-1 in Will County, impacting Mokena.

The online survey asks residents to share their location, describe what kind of damage occurred, and if utilities were impacted. Residents can also submit pictures of damage to their home.

The survey will help local emergency management officials assess county-wide property damage and will aid in determining eligibility for any possible relief for the region. It also helps determine what resources may be needed.

The survey is voluntary, does not substitute reporting damage to an insurance company, and does not guarantee any disaster relief assistance.
