Will County Police, Fire Chiefs To Hold Joint 9/11 Memorial Ceremony On 25th Anniversary Of Attacks

WILL COUNTY — The Will County Fire Chiefs Association and Police Chiefs Association of Will County will collaborate on a joint 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to honor the brave men and women who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and selfless service of the first responders who answered the call that day.

The memorial ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The public is invited to join the first responders and community members at Joliet City Square, 91 N. Chicago St., Joliet, for the ceremony of remembrance.

This joint memorial "reflects the enduring partnership between the fire service and law enforcement and their shared commitment to remembering the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and other heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others," according to a release.

The ceremony will provide an opportunity for first responders, community leaders, and residents to come together in remembrance and reflection.

As the nation marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, the two associations remain steadfast in preserving the memory of those who were lost while honoring the resilience, unity, and dedication that emerged from one of our nation's darkest days, the associations said in a release.

The Will County Fire Chiefs Association and the Police Chiefs Association of Will County invite the public to join them in honoring the fallen and reaffirming the commitment to the principles of service, sacrifice, and community that continue to guide public safety professionals every day.
