Tinley Park native and Victor J Andrew High School Grad opens Edge Music Academy (EMA) In Mokena.

Jason Thompson has owned and operated EMA, a music school with a focus on educational excellence and making music fun, in Homer Glen and Naperville, Illinois, for four years. Due to the success of the business, they are excited to be able to open a new location in the south suburbs, where Jason grew up.

“We opened our first space in Homer Glen, a growing community that previously did not have any music schools.” Founder and Artistic Director, Jason Thompson says. “I’m thrilled to bring the high quality music education that we pride ourselves on to the south suburbs. I grew up here, and there are thriving music programs in the schools - it’s an amazing community and I can’t wait to bring more music here.”

Edge Music Academy is now open in Mokena and registering new students. The academy serves adults and children of all ages with private lessons, group lessons, and rock band classes.

The academy prides itself on being an outstanding community member, partnering with local businesses, libraries, park districts, chambers of commerce and special recreation organizations.

Edge Music Academy hires highly qualified music educators who focus on providing a solid musical foundation, while also allowing students to learn music they like. “So many music schools either bore kids with strict classical study that takes away the fun, or only focus on rock music and forget that music is a discipline and an art” Jason says. “We pride ourselves on a best of both worlds approach.”

Edge Music Academy derives its name from the “Edge” that music provides in life through skills such as hard work, teamwork, discipline and skill mastery. The academy provides private and semi-private music classes on a variety of instruments, as well as adaptive music lessons.
