More than 230 community members gathered last week at the Kankakee Area YMCA for the Nicor Gas Community Connection Resource Fair, an event focused on connecting local residents with essential services, support programs and energy-saving resources.
The fair brought together more than 15 local organizations and agencies, including KCCSI – Kankakee County Community Services, Inc., Illinois Tollway I-PASS Assist and the Illinois Department of Human Services. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about available assistance programs, community resources and services designed to support individuals and families across the region.

As part of Nicor Gas’ ongoing partnership with Top Box Foods, the event also provided food assistance to the community, distributing a total of 5,132 pounds of food to attendees. In addition, many residents received free Nicor Gas energy-saving kits and information about available grants and programs that can help reduce household energy expenses.
Nicor Gas would like to thank State Senator Patrick Joyce, State Representative Jackie Haas, the City of Kankakee, Illinois and the many volunteers whose support helped make the event a success.

The Community Connection Resource Fair reflects Nicor Gas’ continued commitment to supporting the safety, wellbeing and everyday needs of the communities it serves.
