Homer Glen Man, 43, Tells Police He 'Won't Comply' With Arrest, Tries To Walk Away, Arrested Anyway: NLPD

NEW LENOX, IL — A Homer Glen man who blew off court on a misdemeanor charge in April was arrested last week after he attempted to avoid being taken into custody on a warrant in his name, according to police reports.

Police on Aug. 6 saw a man they knew from prior interactions to be Eric Terrell, 43, of Homer Glen, walking from the New Lenox Public Library.

Police knew of an active arrest warrant issued for Terrell, for failure to appear, according to police reports. Will County court records show the incident dates back to February 2026. Records show an arrest warrant was issued in April after Terrell failed to appear in court on a charge of obstructing/resisting a peace officer during a previous encounter with police.

In that incident, police on Feb. 7 were called to Rt 30 Liquors for an unwanted person at the store. The person had left prior to the officers' arrival. The same day, Terrell came to the police department inquiring about the incident at the liquor store, and police learned he had a warrant out of Cook County for resisting arrest, according to police records. Terrell refused to cooperate when told he was under arrest. He was cited for resisting and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He then did not appear at an April 6 court date, according to records. An arrest warrant was issued the same day.

The officer on Aug. 6 confirmed the warrant was in effect and attempted to stop Terrell. Terrell stated he "would not comply to the arrest and processing procedures and started to walk away" from police, according to reports.

Additional officers arrived to assist. The officers stopped Terrell, took him into custody, and transported him to the New Lenox Police Department.

Terrell was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was ordered to be released pre-trial on Aug. 7.
