Man, 28, ID'd As 1 Killed In I-80 Wrong-Way Crash With Semi: Coroner
The crash happened on I-80 West near Briggs Street Monday.
JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old man has been identified as the person killed in a wrong-way crash with a semi Monday afternoon on I-80, the Will County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.
The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. on the interstate at Briggs Street, when a vehicle traveling the wrong way collided with a semi, state police said Monday.
Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries, one of whom later died, police said. He has since been identified as Anthony Almaraz, of Berwyn, the Will County Coroner's Office said Tuesday. An autopsy was performed Tuesday; the final cause and manner of death are pending.

All westbound lanes were closed with traffic diverted to U.S. Route 30 for several hours, according to police. Lanes reopened as of 4 p.m. Monday, state police said.
Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
