Caller Threatens To 'Shoot Up' LA Fitness: Morton Grove PD

MORTON GROVE, IL — Police are investigating a reported threat made against the LA Fitness located at 6791 Dempster Street. Officers responded to the gym at around 4:03 p.m. Friday, after someone had contacted the business by phone, saying they were coming there to "shoot up" the facility.

According to the Morton Grove Police Department, officers were able to secure the premises, and found no active threat at that time. LA Fitness closed for the remainder of the day as a precaution. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Police said they are aware of several similar threat-related incidents that have been reported throughout the region in recent days. Detectives are actively collaborating with regional law enforcement partners.

This collaboration aims to share information, coordinate investigative efforts, and monitor for any related activity, according to police.
