Pedestrian Struck By Train Near Niles: Metra
Extensive delays of the service continue Monday night following the incident at the Niles and Chicago border.
NILES, IL — A Metra train struck a pedestrian Monday night near the Niles/Chicago border. The Niles Fire Department is asking residents to avoid the area near the intersection of Lehigh and Touhy avenues due to road closures, and to seek alternate routes.
At 4:06 p.m., Metra said on social media inbound and outbound traffic is halted near Edgebrook due to train No. 2140 striking a pedestrian, with "extensive" delays anticipated.
