Glenbrook North To Open Free School Health Center

NORTHBROOK, IL — Glenbrook High School District 225 will celebrate the opening of its second school-based health center Friday at Glenbrook North High School.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 7, at the school, 2300 Shermer Road. The new Glenbrook School Health Center is expected to begin seeing patients during the week of Aug. 17.

Created in partnership with Advocate Health, the center will provide medical services to District 225 students and staff members at no cost.

The facility is intended to supplement the care offered by school nurses, including services for students who need more complex treatment, immunizations or school physicals.

$920,000 State Grant Supported Project

District 225 received a $920,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to help pay for the new school nurse’s office and health center.

State Rep. Tracy Katz Muhl, who supported the grant, is scheduled to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Glenbrook North facility follows the district’s first school health center, which opened at Glenbrook South High School in January 2023.

Appointments Available Throughout School Day

Both health centers operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Students may schedule appointments before, during or after school. Advocate Health staffs the centers and maintains patient records in accordance with medical privacy laws.

District 225 students younger than 18 must have a parental consent form on file before receiving treatment at the health center.
