Life Time Opens 114,000-Square-Foot North Shore Club In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — Life Time has opened a sprawling new athletic club in Northbrook featuring 28 pickleball courts, fitness and recovery spaces, children's programming and areas where members can work or socialize.

Life Time North Shore opened June 26 at 1300 Techny Road. The 114,000-square-foot facility spans 17.7 acres and is the company's 16th location in the Chicago area.

The company describes the property as an "athletic country club" bringing fitness, recreation, recovery, dining and family activities together at one location.

"Life Time North Shore is the region's new and spectacular hub for all things healthy living in addition to an unmatched pickleball experience for everyday play and large-scale pickleball tournaments," Senior Club Leader Steven Pierce said in a statement.

28 Pickleball Courts

Pickleball is among the club's most prominent features, with 18 indoor courts and 10 outdoor courts.

The indoor area includes stadium-style seating designed to accommodate tournaments and spectators. Programming is expected to range from introductory courses to offerings for children, active older adults and experienced players.

A dedicated pro shop will also sell pickleball equipment and apparel.

Fitness, Recovery And Coworking Areas

Beyond the courts, Life Time North Shore includes a large workout floor with free weights and cardio and resistance machines, along with dedicated yoga and barre studios.

Members can participate in group-training formats including HYBRID XT, Ultra Fit, MB360 and the reformer-based Core, Tone, Reform program.

The club's LT Recovery area offers water-massage and cold-therapy chairs, compression equipment, percussion devices, metabolic testing and nutrition coaching. A coed hydrotherapy suite with a sauna, steam room, cold plunge and whirlpool is expected to open in fall 2026.

A complimentary Club Work Lounge provides space for members to work while at the facility.

Kids Academy, Cafe And Future Pool

The club's Kids Academy serves children ages 3 months through 11 years. Its amenities include infant and toddler rooms, an activity studio, children’s gymnasium and outdoor play area.

Junior members may receive up to 2½ hours of child care per day and participate in children’s events and seasonal camps.

Life Time North Shore also has a LifeCafe serving meals and post-workout drinks, along with an adjacent bar intended for social gatherings.

An outdoor Beach Club is scheduled to open in 2027 with a pool divided between lap swimming and recreational use, as well as a poolside bistro.

The Northbrook location was Life Time's sixth new Chicago-area club to open in five years. A membership provides access to several of the company’s northern suburban locations, including clubs in Northbrook, Skokie, Evanston, Vernon Hills and Lake Zurich, according to Life Time.
