Make River Trail Better On MLK National Day Of Service In Northbrook
The Forest Preserves of Cook County invites residents to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Across Cook County this upcoming holiday weekend, community members of all ages are encouraged to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a wide range of volunteer opportunities, including one in Northbrook.
To Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service on Monday, an event is planned at River Trail. Scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the free event is for ages 10 and up (10-17 must be accompanied by an adult) at 3120 Milwaukee Ave. It gives residents a chance to make the trail "better," according to organizers.
"Dr. King reminded us that everyone can serve and that meaningful change is built through collective action," Cook County and Forest Preserves Board President Toni Preckwinkle said. "The MLK Day of Service programs offer residents an opportunity to honor his legacy by strengthening our communities, caring for our shared natural spaces and committing to service beyond a single day."
