FBI Mum On 'Court-Authorized' Law Enforcement Activity At Oak Forest Home

Oak Forest residents were asked to avoid the area of 151st and Chaucer.

OAK FOREST, IL — FBI agents on scene at an Oak Forest home Wednesday morning were there for court-authorized law enforcement activity, the FBI Chicago Office told Patch.

As of 1 p.m., the FBI's Chicago office would not release any additional information regarding the incident at the home at 151st and Chaucer.

"I can confirm that the FBI was engaged in court-authorized law enforcement activity in that area and there is no known threat to public safety," said Gabrielle Szlenkier, Public Affairs Officer for the FBI Chicago Office.

She went on to say additional information could not be released at this time.

The operation took place early Wednesday, with flash bangs and loudspeakers used at the scene. Witnesses nearby reported hearing authorities stating they have a warrant and commanding the home’s residents to come out with their hands up. Helicopters were also seen circling overhead.

The police activity was expected to continue for hours, and reportedly wrapped up around 9 a.m., according to City of Oak Forest Communications Director Chrissy Maher.
