Man Struck, Dragged In Fatal Hit-And-Run: South Holland Police Seek Public's Help
The incident happened Saturday into Sunday, police said. "Do the right thing and turn yourself in," police urge driver.

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL — South Holland police are asking for the public's help after a fatal hit-and-run over the weekend.
Just after midnight on Saturday, August 15, officers responded to the 100 block of E. 173rd St, near the Babe Ruth baseball field, after receiving a report of a deceased male lying in the roadway near the railroad tracks. Investigators believe the victim, Cornell Carpenter, age 59, was struck by a vehicle and dragged some distance.
The driver fled the scene.

Police said they believe the vehicle involved has visible damage, such as front-end damage or broken lights.
Anyone who knows of a vehicle in the area that suddenly has similar damage is asked to contact police.

"We're also asking the driver directly: please do the right thing and turn yourself in," police said.
