Back To School: Oak Lawn Community High School Academic Calendar 2026-2027

OAK LAWN, IL—School bells are ringing in a new academic year, and back-to-school planning has already begun at Dist. 229 Oak Lawn Community High School, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2026-2027 school year.

Freshmen and new students return to OLCHS Aug. 14, with all grades reporting Aug. 17 for the first day of school.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. We also suggest checking the full OLCHS calendar for conferences, open houses, meetings, exams, early dismissals, athletic and other school events.

Here's a look at some dates to know for the 2025-2026 school year:

Aug. 14 – Freshmen/new student orientation, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Aug. 17 – All grades report

Aug. 26 - Back-to-School night, 6 to 8 p.m.

Sept. 7 - Labor Day, no school

Oct. 9 - No student attendance, teacher institute

Oct. 12 – Indigenous People Day, no school

Nov. 11 - Veterans Day, no school

Nov. 25 to Nov. 27 – Thanksgiving break

Nov. 30 - Classes resume

Dec. 18 - Finals

Dec. 21-22 -Finals

Dec. 23 to Jan. 5 – Winter break

Jan. 6 - Teacher’s institute, no student attendance
