Oak Lawn, Hometown Remember Fallen War Heroes With Memorial Day Ceremonies
Take a moment out of your holiday weekend to honor the fallen at Oak Lawn and Hometown Memorial Day ceremonies on May 25.

OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN, IL—Take some time out this Memorial Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Oak Lawn and Hometown veterans organizations are planning Memorial Day ceremonies in their respective communities Monday, May 25.
Oak Lawn
Residents, veterans and active military will start gathering at 10:30 a.m. by the Oak Lawn Veterans Memorial, 9427 S. Raymond Ave. (95th Street and Raymond Avenue), behind the library, where Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220 will be leading the ceremony.
The ceremony includes the laying of wreaths by local veterans organizations, including the Ladies Auxiliary of Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220, Disabled American Veterans, Purple Heart Veterans and the Swallow Cliff chapter of the Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution.

The ceremony concludes with the playing of Taps and a 21-gun salute by Johnson-Phelps VFW members.
Coffee and pastries follow immediately at VFW Post 5220, 9514 S. 52nd Ave.

Hometown
The City of Hometown is planning to gather at 11:11 a.m. Monday by the Patterson Park eternal flame (Main Street and Pulaski Road).
Refreshments will be served at theHometown-Murray VFW Post 9773, 9092 Main St. following the ceremony. Bring your DD214 and be eligible for a FREE lifetime membership.
