Seat Belt Violations Plummet During Oak Lawn Police Memorial Day Holiday Campaign
Oak Lawn police issued 156 seat belt violations during Memorial Day Holiday traffic enforcement campaign, compared to 277 tickets in 2025.

OAK LAWN, IL—Seat belt citations plummeted during the Oak Lawn Police Department’s 11-day “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign over the Memorial Day holiday.
This year’s enforcement campaign was aimed at increasing seat belt use and keeping roads safe during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
A total of 156 seat belt citations were issued, compared to the 277 written during the same period last year.

“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives,” said Lt. Kumke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “Every citation and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work.”
