Son, 18, Charged In Deadly Shooting Of Father In Oak Lawn
The 18-year-old is to appear Thursday for a pre-detention hearing on a first-degree murder charge at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

OAK LAWN, IL—An 18-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of his father on Monday evening, Oak Lawn police said.
Sami MDanat is charged with first degree murder and is expected to appear Thursday afternoon at the Bridgeview Courthouse for a pre-detention hearing.
Around 10:45 p.m., Oak Lawn police went to the 10400 block of South Austin Avenue for a reported shooting. When they arrived, officers found a man, later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as 50-year-old Ayed MDanat.

Police said the older man was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rendered aid and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A large caliber gun was found nearby.
A perimeter was established around the neighborhood, and the 18-year-old son was found a short time later near the scene, according to police.

OLPD detectives initiated a comprehensive investigation, which included executing multiple search warrants. Detectives presented evidence to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved the felony first-degree murder charge.
