BURBANK, IL—St. Laurence High School will honor the legacy of Queen of Peace with a special mass and brunch for QoP alumni from all eras on Sunday, May 3. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. before mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by brunch at 11:30 a.m.

The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters opened the Catholic girls high school in 1962 to accommodate the south suburban population boom after World War II. At its height, Queen of Peace High School boasted a student enrollment of 1,400 students. It provided a mission-driven, college preparatory education for more than 15,000 young women. Queen of Peace kept its tuition costs lower than other area private high schools, providing financial assistance to 60 percent of its student body.

The high school closed in 2017 amid dwindling enrollment. Many of its remaining students transitioned to St. Laurence, traditionally a boys high school, and the high school became coed.
