Discover Everything Your Library Has to Offer During a Guided Library Tour

Whether you're new to the community or have visited the library for years, there's always something new to discover at the Orland Park Public Library. Community members are invited to join a free guided Library Tour on Friday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. The tour will begin in the library lobby and offer an inside look at the many resources, spaces, and services available to patrons.

Led by library staff, the tour explores the library from its humble beginnings in 1937 to the vibrant community destination it is today. Participants will learn how the library has grown alongside Orland Park, from its first home in the Purple Candle Building to the opening of the current 93,000 square foot facility on Ravinia Avenue in 2004.

Along the way, attendees will discover many of the library's unique features, including the Children's Library, Teen Loft, Tech Center, study rooms, Sensory Space, Nest, Gallery Wall, and the library's one-of-a-kind NASA Collection featuring more than 340 artifacts. The tour also introduces visitors to popular services such as the Library of Things, free Wi-Fi, interlibrary loan, meeting room reservations, notary services, online databases, language learning resources, and much more.

"Our library offers so much more than books," said Library Director Mary Adamowski. "Whether you would like to learn a new skill, attend a program, reserve a meeting space, borrow unique items, or simply find a quiet place to work, we want every resident to know the many ways the library can enrich their lives."

The tour also provides practical information about obtaining a library card, borrowing materials, placing holds, using library technology, and accessing digital resources from home. The Orland Park Public Library welcomes more than 21,000 visitors each month, circulates more than 500,000 items annually, and offers hundreds of free programs for all ages throughout the year. The Library Tour is free to attend. Participants should meet in the library lobby before the tour begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.

Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park, Illinois. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
