
The Consolidated High School District 230 School Board approved the hiring of Candace Johnson as Director of Communication and Public Relations, replacing Jennifer Waterman, who will retire June 30 after more than three decades in school communications.
Candace Johnson joins District 230 with more than 20 years of experience as a strategic communicator and marketing leader. Adept at developing clear, engaging, and inclusive communication for diverse audiences, Johnson is experienced in managing social media, crisis messaging, and storytelling that highlights people, programs, and successes.
Her previous experience includes four years as Senior Content Marketing Manager for BluSky Restoration Contractors, and seven years each as Director of Marketing for J.C. Restoration, Inc. and Regional Marketing Director for Rose Paving, LLC.

Johnson says, “As a District 230 alum and current member of this community, I couldn’t be more excited to step into this role to help celebrate students and support families with confidence, care, and impact from day one.”

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. She is an Executive Board Member and Volunteer Marketing Lead for the Tinley Park Bobcats.
