Palos Hills Man, 66, ID'd As Pedestrian Killed Amid Multi-Car Crash Near Orland Mall: Police

The four-car crash happened Monday morning at 149th and LaGrange Road.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A pedestrian killed amid a multi-car crash near Orland Square Mall Monday morning has been identified as a Palos Hills man.

The multi-car crash happened at 149th and LaGrange Road just before 11 a.m. According to police, the pedestrian—now identified by police as Antoni Luczynski, 66—was hit after one of the vehicles involved in the crash left the roadway.

Police initially said three cars were involved in the crash; on Monday afternoon they clarified there was a fourth. Three of the vehicles sustained heavy damage, Orland Fire Protection District officials said. Three additional patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were treated on scene before being taken to area hospitals, fire officials said.

The crash closed the intersection for several hours. It reopened at 6 p.m., police said. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

"Yesterday, our community experienced a tragic loss when a pedestrian was fatally struck on LaGrange Road," Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi said in a social media statement Tuesday. "On behalf of the Orland Park Police Department, I want to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this incident. Our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time.
