Woman Slain, Person In Custody After Search With Drone, K-9: Oswego Police
Police were also asking for video surveillance footage of the male suspect, and urging residents to check their trash bins for evidence.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police are investigating a woman's death as a homicide, and a person was taken into custody after a search Tuesday afternoon, officials said in a news release. As of early Wednesday morning, police said the male suspect was in custody at the Oswego Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Valentine Way around 1:10 p.m. and found the woman unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said a witness reported seeing a male running south across Wolfs Crossing Road. Officers immediately began a search of the area, which included drone surveillance and the use of a K-9 search team from the Aurora Police Department.

A person was detained near Wolfs Crossing Road and Devoe Drive, Oswego police said earlier.
"Dispatch was also able to provide officers with a vehicle description and license plate number believed to be associated with the suspect," police said in a news release. "An officer observed a vehicle matching that description driven by an individual matching the suspect’s description. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Oswego Police Department."

"It is [possible] the Kendall County Command Bus will be brought out as a work area due to the cold temperatures," officials said.
As of 9:41 p.m., officers were still investigating on Valentine Way, according to police.
"The investigation remains ongoing," officials said in a news release just before 10 p.m. "This is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. Police are working with the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine appropriate criminal charges. Additional information will be released as it becomes available."
The Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force and Forensics Team were activated to assist with the investigation and processing of the scene. The Kendall County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene. Cause and manner of death is pending further scientific study and forensic autopsy which will be performed on Thursday, police said.
Police ask for assistance
After midnight, Oswego police issued a request on social media, sharing photos related to the investigation and asking for assistance.
"Specifically, residents of Prescott Mill, Hudson Pointe, and Echelon Oswego are asked to review any home or vehicle surveillance footage that may have captured the pictured male subject or vehicle on Tuesday prior to 1:45 p.m.," police said.
The photos showed a man wearing a dark-colored coat, gray hat and face covering standing out in the snow, and a gray SUV.
Area residents who put their garbage cans at their curb before 1:45 p.m. are also asked to check in and around their trash cans and in their yards "for any items that do not belong to them or were not placed there intentionally."
Police added, "If you locate anything suspicious, do not touch it and immediately call 911."
