650 Rolls Of Toilet Paper Intended For Homecoming Pranks Intercepted: Plainfield Police

PLAINFIELD, IL — Homecoming in Plainfield has gone “well beyond harmless” this week as police said they received reports in the “double digits” for chaotic pranks.

The calls came in between 7:15-9:15 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from residents in the area near Plainfield North High School who reported their homes and vehicles were targeted with toilet paper, eggs, ketchup, laundry detergent pods and other items, according to a news release.

Officers intercepted 650 rolls of toilet paper intended for pranks, officials said.

“20-25 people wearing hoodies & ski masks will ‘pull up’ (as the kids say) simultaneously in multiple vehicles and cause chaos,” Plainfield police said Thursday.

Homes that have “nothing to do” with Homecoming festivities are being targeted, officials said.

Police urged students not to include property damage, criminal mischief and dangerous behavior into their homecoming traditions.

“Before the ‘don’t you have anything better to do’ comments start rolling in…. on Monday & Tuesday, we also assisted Plainfield Fire with a structure fire, assisted the State Police, made a DUI arrest, assisted a family experiencing a mental health crisis, and handled crashes, intoxicated subject calls, violations of orders of protection, and more,” police said. “In short, we DO have better things to do. So PLEASE, be respectful of your community and let us!”
