APD Releases Video In Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Investigation

AURORA, IL — Aurora police are turning to the community for help identifying the car that was responsible for hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian June 24.

Officers responded at 10:13 p.m. to the 100 block of Ridgeway Avenue and found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with significant injuries after an eastbound SUV hit him and fled from the scene, police said.

A witness reported seeing the car continue east on Ridgeway Avenue before turning south onto Lake Street.

Aurora paramedics brought the man to the hospital, and he was since released and continues recovering from his injuries, officials said.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area and obtained surveillance video from several locations. Police have followed up on leads but have not yet identified the SUV.

As part of the investigation, police released a surveillance video showing the car believed to be involved moments before the crash. Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the car, could identify the driver or has information that could assist detectives to contact Traffic Investigator Alex Lopez at LopezA@aurora.il.us.
